About Alexander

As a graduate of Tufts University with a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering and Mathematics, I bring a strong academic foundation and a passion for fostering independent learning in students. With a GPA of 3.78, I have demonstrated my commitment to academic excellence and a deep understanding of mathematical concepts.

My professional experience is currently in the clean energy startup sector, my educational background has equipped me with a diverse skill set applicable to teaching. My mathematics coursework at Tufts encompassed a wide range of subjects, including calculus, statistics, probability, discrete mathematics, real analysis, and abstract algebra.

Drawing on my experience offering informal tutoring sessions to classmates both in high school and college, I have developed a teaching philosophy that revolves around empowering students to think critically and independently. I encourage students to first identify areas for development, to allow us to collaboratively set goals and work towards achieving specific targets. Next, my aim is to build a solid foundation of understanding for mathematical concepts to allow students to feel comfortable as they continue to advance in math.

In preparation for teaching sessions, I request students to share their course curriculum beforehand. This enables me to tailor my instruction to complement their classroom learning effectively. I am committed to providing students with content and problems that goes beyond the standard curriculum, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of the subject matter.

I am very passionate about education and I am eager to apply my teaching approach to support the academic success of high school students.
