About

My name is Nader Maarouf. I graduated in May 2023 from Brown University with an Sc. B in Applied Mathematics and Biology. I have 1000s of hours of tutoring STEM subjects as well as English, Arabic, and French. I often use AI software on my iPad to optimize tutoring sessions.

I began tutoring in high school, where I developed a free weekly course for 20 British students in Dubai who lacked access to standardized test preparation, helping them achieve scores in the 99th percentile to get into their dream colleges.

At Brown, I worked as Head Teaching Assistant in the Applied Mathematics Division at Brown University teaching Differential Equations. I received glowing feedback from 90 students: over 35 positive reviews, median of 5/5, and mean of 4.9/5. Each week: I guided groups of 20 students through practice problems. I held office hours over Zoom for homework questions and exam review with over 100 attendees. I graded over 300 students’ homework with our TA team providing individualized feedback within 2 hours. I advised 5 students on course selection and research for honors thesis.

I also worked as Head Career Advisor at the Brown University Center for Career Exploration. I helped over 300 students find internships and jobs, including networking through Alumni and on LinkedIn. I edited over 150 resumes and cover letters for different industries, providing personalized feedback over multiple drafts. I conducted outreach to over 50 student clubs and provided mock interviews to 30 students. I collaborated with 30 other advisors and counselors through workshops, weekly meetings, and hosting career fairs.

Serving the local Providence community outside Brown, I was Volunteer Program Coordinator at the largest post-resettlement agency in Rhode Island, the Refugee Dream Center. I helped develop a curriculum for an Adult ESL program, managing and teaching 20 volunteer mentors who were assigned mentees. I led a weekly youth employment class of 100 refugees on financial literacy. I provided weekly one-on-one tutoring sessions in college applications and math to newly settled high school students from Syria and Afghanistan.

These diverse experiences have made me adaptable to different tutoring situations and learning styles, so I'm very open to feedback.
