About Lonnie

My Master of Music from Yale supports a rigorous approach to scale work, sight transposition, and ear training. I guide students through pop, contemporary, and classical repertoire with a focus on pedaling technique and hand position. "Speed is often the enemy of progress during our initial diagnostic playing assessment. Contrary to popular belief, playing louder or faster usually hides fundamental flaws in your rhythm or posture. I implement a tailored learning plan based on your current level and past experience. We tackle complex hand independence exercises and sight transposition to sharpen your mental map of the keyboard.
My 13 years of experience ensure that we address grade exam preparation for ABRSM or Trinity with total accuracy. I frame our time together around steady, incremental gains that honor your history as a musician. This approach creates a sense of order in your practice.
