About Maliha

I am a dedicated 4th year medical student with a strong academic background and a genuine interest in supporting students to achieve their goals.
Having consistently performed in the top 10% of my year and achieved top grades throughout school, I understand the skills and mindset needed to succeed.
Alongside my studies, I have developed extensive experience working with students through mentoring, teaching, and medical school application support.
I have worked with both individuals and groups, helping students build confidence, improve their performance, and approach challenges in a structured way.
My experience as a Medical School Examiner at the University of Birmingham has given me a clear understanding of what distinguish strong candidates and how students are assessed in practice.
I aim to create a supportive and comfortable learning environment where students feel confident asking questions and developing their understanding.
I am always well-prepared, reliable, and focused on helping each student make steady, meaningful progress.

About the lesson

My Tutoring Approach:
My teaching approach is structured, supportive, and tailored to each individual student.
I begin by understanding the student’s current level, goals, and areas of difficulty, and then adapt sessions to focus on where they will make the most progress.
For MMI interview preparation, sessions are highly interactive and practical. I use realistic mock stations to simulate the interview environment, followed by detailed, personalised feedback on communication, structure, and content. I also teach clear frameworks to help students organise their answers and build confidence under pressure.
For Biology tutoring, I focus on building a strong conceptual understanding first, then developing exam technique and application through practice questions and active recall. I aim to make complex topics clearer and help students feel more confident approaching exam-style questions.

Lesson Structure & Duration:
Lessons are typically 60 minutes, though longer sessions can be arranged if needed.
A typical session may include:
- Review of previous work or key concepts
- Targeted teaching or practice (e.g. mock MMI station or Biology topic)
- Application through questions or discussion
- Clear, actionable feedback and next steps
I ensure each lesson is focused, engaging, and productive, with measurable progress over time.

Qualifications & Experience
I am a 4th year medical student, consistently ranked in the top 10% of my year, with a distinction in second year. I achieved A*s in Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics, alongside 10 Grade 9s at GCSE.
I have extensive experience in teaching and mentoring, including:
- Delivering 1:1 and group MMI teaching sessions
- Designing and running MMI preparation courses
- Working as a Medical School Examiner at the University of Birmingham
- Supporting students with personal statements and interview preparation, with successful outcomes
