About Alexander
Hello, my name is Alex, I’m a 4th year double major in Physics & Biology at Carleton university. I’ve been mentoring Math & Physics at the university level for over 2 years now. My passion for learning emerged during highschool when going through the International Baccalaureate (IB) program. This consisted of an incredibly heavy course-load and not enough academic support. Therefore, with the internet in-hand, I had to learn how to learn. My experience of studying physics in university has simply been a more intense version of the same story. Throughout this self-learning process, I’ve developed a learning approach primarily driven by curiosity. Which is often left out in highschool or university math & physics. It includes filling in prerequisite gaps, and finding an array of resources to help develop a more wholesome knowledge of a subject: good textbooks, articles, visual videos, and interactive websites. It also emphasizes tying STEM knowledge back into reality, which entails exploring the applications behind each topic, either in the real world or later in more advanced topics. Overall I’m a very curious and active person, I love anything with movement, especially in nature: rock-climbing, running, and biking. I also really enjoy cooking, gardening, reading, writing, guitar, language learning, and philosophizing about life. My goal is to help you move past any roadblocks in a subject, establish necessary study skills (note-taking, finding good resources, and absorbing knowledge), in addition to deepening your curiosity about the subject.

My intention as a tutor is to help you understand topics that either confuse you, or that you're curious about. Additionally, one of my main goals is to help teach you the best learning methods and resources for learning a specific subject. My preferred teaching style attempts to cater to your curiosity and intuition, by showing you how these topics are applied in real life situations. My lessons are for anyone pursuing highschool or university level math and physics. Please message me about specific class content as certain topics are beyond my scope.
