About Dempsey
I am an 8th grade life science teacher in a suburban school district in Pennsylvania. I have a passion for learning and teaching science, which allows me to seamlessly support students in their understanding of biological and chemical science topics. I am highly motivated by opportunities to impact the academic growth of students in science related topics. I find the best approach to academic growth to be truly personalizing the learning experience for each student while incorporating connections to each student's interests, teaching to each student's strengths, and most of all minimizing weaknesses.

I am flexible and am able to adjust techniques and approaches to meet the learning styles of the student. I enjoy exploring a wide variety of learning styles so that we can find a style(s) that works best for each student. A typical lesson includes a safe and welcoming envionrment for the student to ask questions and take risks to show their understanding, but more importantly their areas of need. The areas of need are the target areas where I as a tutor enjoy creating tailored opportunities to practice and enrich understanding. I am a certified 7-12 biology teacher, with a masters in chemical and life science, so my background covers a wide range of the biological and chemical sciences. I enjoy working one-on-one with students for a more personalized learning experience that makes learning and academic growth fun and rewarding.
