About Kelsey

Hello, I'm Kelsey! (or "Miss Kelsey" to the 84 real-time tiny humans and their families that I have the privilege of hearing stories from during my in-person 9-5 at a local Philly K-8th grade school) These lessons are designed to provide students space to explore the creative process, while taking inventory of their emotions through art making. I have 4 years of K-8th grade art teaching experience, with 3 additional years of practice as a K-8th grade school counselor. It's my goal to help you declutter your emotions through the warm, inviting, and low-pressure environment of your own home. Therapy in a clinical office can be expensive and intimidating. Art making in a professional studio can be inaccessible and overwhelming for most. My hope is to provide you a taste of both experiences from the comfort of home! If you find that through this time you would benefit from additional therapy or art making, I highly recommend you consider seeking out those options. **SUPPLEMENTAL COURSE: Though I hold a B.S. degree in Youth and Family Ministry, and an M.S. degree in Counseling, I am NOT a certified art therapist, and courses are NOT designed to certify OR train students for a degree, or profession in the mental health/arts field. I am also UNLICENSED which means I am NOT CERTIFIED TO DIAGNOSE OR TREAT any mental health conditions**

About the lesson

Students will begin with a simple creative prompt that is self-guided and open ended. This prompt can be made specific toward individual student needs, and access to creative materials. We will work together to take an inventory of your emotions through the materials you have access to.

My hope will be to create a compassionate space for you to declutter your emotions, and take inventory of what is there so you can be propelled to do further work and self-reflection on your own. Whether that be with a clinically trained therapist, with a trusted safe person, or in your own personal journaling and art making time.
