About Joshua
Hello, I am Joshua! I hold a Master of Science in Educational Psychology and have completed doctoral-level coursework (ABD) with a focus on Information Technology in Education. Professionally, I work directly with K-12 students as a special education resource math teacher, giving me daily, hands-on experience in addressing complex learning needs, executive functioning challenges, and mathematical anxieties.
My approach is grounded in educational science: I focus on how the brain processes quantitative information, reducing cognitive overload, and building intuitive problem-solving habits. Whether we are tackling foundational resource math, high school algebra, or college-level statistics and data analysis, my goal is to provide a structured, supportive, and patient environment where every student can achieve true mathematical confidence.

My teaching methodology centers on cognitive load reduction and data-driven intervention. Rather than forcing students to memorize formulas, I break complex mathematical, algebraic, and statistical concepts into clear, visual grammars and manageable steps.
A Typical Lesson Plan:
1. Diagnostic Check-In (5–10 mins): We identify the exact conceptual block using targeted diagnostic questions.
2. Core Strategy & Modeling (20–25 mins): I introduce low-stress, structured visual models and walk through problem-solving logic step-by-step.
3. Guided Practice & Feedback (15–20 mins): The student applies the strategy while I provide immediate, constructive feedback to build confidence.
4. Actionable Wrap-Up (5 mins): We summarize key takeaways and outline actionable practice steps.
