About McKenzie
As a child, I struggled in staying focused while reading, and I struggled with coming up with things to write about. I would start reading and I would forget everything I just read and would have to go back again. When writing, it felt like my brain would just shut down and I couldn't come up with a single thing to write about. Thankfully, I had a great tutor that, not only helped me with my reading and writing, but also helped me to love it. I hope to do the same with you all.

My lessons are for K-2nd grade. They are focused mainly on Reading and Writing. I have various activities and lessons that will help your child to write creatively and read at a higher level. I use a student-centered approach in my tutoring. I allow the student to show me what they know and what they can do, then I step in and widen their knowledge on a subject or guide them in a different direction if need be. I will start out by creating a "Knowledge Rating Scale", which tells me what they know about a subject, what they have seen or heard about a subject, and what they don't know about a subject. This will tell me what the child needs to work on and what they already know.
