About Jordyn
ADHD is a complex diagnosis that shows up differently in everyone. However, there is a common misconception that ADHD is a lack of attention - this is just not true. ADHD is the chronic struggle of REGULATING your attention span. Understanding ADHD in this way makes the treatment process much easier. The goal is not to fill some supposed gap in your brain that "lacks" attention or focus. Instead we are working to develop good habits that help you to regulate your focus in fruitful ways. Over the past 10 years I have developed a thorough understanding of the methods and techniques that help individuals with ADHD (and other learning deficits) manage their studies effectively, enabling them to thrive in the enviorment they are in.
When I was only 14 years old, preparing to make the transition from grade 8 to high school, I was invited to join the Learning Disabilities Association of York Region as an LDAYR "champion". In the beginning there were just three of us, an Assistive Technology Consultant, a graduate student, and myself. Slowly the Champion program grew and suddenly I was part of a team of Learning Disability advocates who helped bring awareness to key issues grappling our community. I would attend the annual general meetings where me and my colleagues would participate in a speakers panel for parents, teachers, and special guests to ask any questions they had on how to support their child/student. I spoke at conferences on topics such as finding balance, and gave presentations to the district's Special Education Advisory Committee. I was featured in an awareness video on math resources produced by LDAO, and was invited as a special guest to teach multiple grade 9 Learning Strategies classes the importance of self-advocating. I also wrote articles for LDAYR seasonal newsletters, including responses to concerned parents under the question & answer column.

Coaching is done through a differentiated instruction approach, meaning every lesson is tailored to the individual students needs, strengths, interests, and learning styles.
Below you will find my typical coaching curriculum for students graduating high school and entering their first year of Post-Secondary education. In order to fully benefit from my assistance, I would need to meet with the student a minimum of 4 times. Ideally, 3 of those meetings are held before the start of the academic year (between May and August).
Free Consultation: This 30 minute initial meeting is used to get to know the student in a laid back, stress-free environment and build a rapport.
Session 1: Working with the student to examine their previously established scholastic strengths and weaknesses (using documents such as an IEP, 504 plan, medical diagnosis, psycho-educational assessment, report cards, etc.).
Session 2: Examine the syllabus for the upcoming year and begin to create a detailed management strategy plan. (Student must be enrolled in courses for upcoming year)
*between sessions 2 and 3, both the student and myself will continue to finalize details on their management strategy plan in our individual time. This is great low-stakes practice for students who struggle with independent work.*
Session 3: Held roughly 3 weeks after they begin post-secondary studies, to check up on their progress and see how they have adjusted so far.
I strongly suggest students continue to work with me following their required 3 sessions, in order to maintain their progress and continue developing good habits that cannot be developed over night. The rates for additional sessions following the third check-up, drop considerably to $20/h.
Along with supporting the transition from high school to University/College, I am always happy to work with struggling students who have already begun their post-secondary education, and am also open to working with individuals lacking any formal diagnosis of neurodiversity.

Jordyn took two courses in philosophy with me —Philosophy and Popular Culture and Bioethics—at Carleton University in 2022 and did very well in both. She is personable and a clear communicator. I have no doubt that she would be a very good philosophy tutor.
Jordyn has a natural ability to make complex philosophical concepts easy to understand. She is a patient teacher and a clear communicator who’s passion for philosophy is undeniable.
Jordyn has a deep passion and understanding of philosophy, and it is apparent when she teaches. I highly recommend her, she is excellent at breaking down complex ideas in an engaging way and pays attention to those easy to miss yet crucial details that are so common in philosophy.

Outside of meeting with the student, hours of additional work is done on my end to create a detailed and effective learning strategy plan for them including all necessary research on the special education system of the school they will be attending. The rate, therefore, is based on roughly 5 hours work at minumum wage.
This rate also only applies to the first 3 meetings. After which my rate lowers considerably to only $20/h.
