About Alexandra
As a high school educator, I know how frustrating it can be to fall behind in a traditional school setting - few teachers have time to hone in on the personalized feedback and techniques that students need to excel based on their individual approach to learning.
With years of experience in the hospitality industry and education realm, I approach tutoring with an intertwinement of the two: by cultivating a strong relationship and lighthearted environment, students feel safe enough to take risks while reading, analyzing, and writing.
I refrain from rote-style learning and instead focus on building confidence— making learning feel like more of an ongoing, lifelong conversation than a coerced competition.

I focus on a Socratic method of critical thinking and personal connections to make the complex ideas and archaic words of literature feel relevant and within-grasp for students.
In the writing realm, I hone in on how to structure essays (academic or narrative based) while maintaining both clarity and individual voice/style. By talking through revisions, students learn how to grasp and implement writing techniques rather than merely editing for a "quick fix."
While I have experience tutoring grades spanning 2nd-12th, I work best with middle and high schoolers who need a confidence boost in the literary + academic writing world.
