About Desiree

I am a kind, generous and experienced writing teacher with thirty years of experience at the university level. I have worked with hundreds of students in advanced composition classes. I am especially good at working with international students because of my background as an ELL tutor. Also, I am excellent at working with students who have hard to fix writing issues. I have been able to help students who had tried for years to learn to write. I have studied other people’s writing techniques and have made up some of my own. I am also good with more advanced undergraduate students and can help with Masters thesis and dissertations, as well. I am a PhD who has worked with graduate students, teaching writing and as a writing coach.

About the lesson

My lessons are designed so that I can be of utmost service to my students. I will listen carefully to your concerns about writing and devise lessons to specifically meet your needs. I am a kind, friendly and generous teacher and do everything I can to help you to become a better and more effective writer. I will talk with you about your writing concerns. If you are having difficulty with writing process we will discuss those. We can work on addressing writing blocks or issues with different parts of the writing process. If there is piece of writing you are working on I can help you with it in a way that will benefit you in the future. We will be working on the writing together and I will teach you about it as we go along. I see writing as a many steps process and usually when someone is learning writing, or is trying to improve different aspects of their writing, the way to learn is to pay attention to what part of the process can be improved or learned. I have many techniques that I have used, through years of writing teaching and coaching, that I will be able to share with you to help you to improve as a writer.
