I started taking lessons with Ville when I already knew some of Finnish. He is the one who guided me through all the challenges of intermediate level and made me start speaking Finnish, completely leaving English behind. Ville always gave me fun and creative tasks to boost my learning. Our lessons were exciting enough to keep me interested and willing to practise. I love how eager Ville is to deliver his knowledge in a unique way for each student, so that everyone feels heard in his classroom.

Ville really helped me take my Finnish skills to the next level. We first met in Finland, while I was an exchange student there. Ever since he's been like a language parent to me, encouraging me to speak and understanding me even when others wouldn't. This turned it into a fun experience for both of us. Also it boosted my confidence and allowed me to gradually become more fluent and proficient. Thanks to him I'm not afraid to speak Finnish in any situation.

He's very passionate about languages and has studied too many for me to keep count of. He speaks my mother tongue, German, too, and very well at that. I could always very well relate to his language passion, which created many joyful moments. Together it led us to dig into more everyday and slangish terms and phrases. Terms and phrases of the kind, which you sometimes won't even find in a dictionary, but which can be very common in everyday speech. Fond memories remain of those moments, because many of these terms and phrases sound quite crazy, when you think about them like an outsider instead of a native.

Apart from tons of talking we together also read texts & chat messages and watched video clips & TV shows, which I couldn't yet understand on my own. When I needed help preparing for a new speaking situation or when writing some text, he was always there to assist.

Overall if your goal is to really learn, how to get by in Finnish, Ville is definitely a big recommendation. I would study with him any time again.
