About Collette

I have spent thirteen years training more than 500 students in the critical fields of cybersecurity network administration and ethical computing. My professional background includes a decade as a network security engineer and certified ethical hacker at major financial and government organisations. I hold advanced certifications in cybersecurity and a master's degree in information assurance. My students have entered careers as security analysts network administrators penetration testers and compliance officers. I am particularly skilled at helping students understand the adversarial mindset required for security work while maintaining strong ethical boundaries. I maintain a home laboratory of networking and security equipment that I use for realistic demonstrations and exercises. Outside of teaching I participate in security conferences run capture-the-flag competitions and volunteer with organisations that promote cybersecurity awareness. I believe that cybersecurity is one of the most important challenges of the digital age and I am passionate about preparing students to protect individuals organisations and nations from cyber threats.

About the lesson

My programming teaching specialises in the security and infrastructure side of computing preparing students for careers in cybersecurity network administration and ethical hacking. I teach network fundamentals including TCP/IP routing switching and network security protocols with hands-on lab exercises using real networking equipment and simulation software. Cybersecurity is taught through the study of threat models attack vectors encryption systems and defence strategies. Ethical hacking is introduced through controlled penetration testing exercises where students learn to identify vulnerabilities and recommend remediation in legal and responsible ways. I emphasise the legal and ethical framework of cybersecurity teaching students about privacy regulations compliance standards and professional ethics. Programming for security is taught through scripting in Python and Bash for automation log analysis and tool development. For students preparing for certifications I offer comprehensive coverage of CompTIA Security Cisco CCNA and Certified Ethical Hacker curricula. My sessions are highly practical with students configuring networks analysing security incidents and building defence systems. I also teach digital forensics incident response and risk management for students interested in the broader field of information security.
