About Shane
Teaching guitar for over 8 years has been a journey filled with meaningful connections and musical growth. I believe every student deserves lessons tailored to their unique goals, whether that’s playing favorite songs, mastering technique, or exploring music theory. My approach starts with building a strong foundation—hand positioning, chord shapes, rhythm, and timing—because these basics support all future progress. I emphasize practical application by linking theory concepts directly to songs students want to learn, making lessons relevant and motivating. One of the most rewarding moments was helping a student who was initially hesitant about performing gain enough confidence to play at a local open mic. I also integrate creativity through improvisation, songwriting, and genre exploration, encouraging students to express their individual musical voice. Using technology like metronomes, backing tracks, and recording apps enhances practice and keeps lessons engaging. Above all, I create a supportive and patient environment where students feel safe to experiment and learn at their own pace. Whether you want to play casually, perform live, or compose original music, I’m here to help you enjoy the guitar and grow as a musician.

Teaching Guitar is about creating a space where music becomes part of your identity, not just a skill you practice. I believe everyone has a unique musical voice, and my job is to help you find it and express it with confidence.
We don’t just work through exercises—we explore songs, sounds, and ideas that mean something to you. I pay close attention to what excites you, what challenges you, and what kind of learner you are, and I use that to shape every lesson.
If you’re inspired by a certain artist or style, we dig into it. If you're not sure what you love yet, we explore together. My teaching philosophy is rooted in making learning feel meaningful and fun. Motivation is at the heart of everything. I design lessons so you can see your progress and feel a sense of accomplishment, even in small ways. That might mean nailing a chord change, understanding a groove, or simply feeling more in control of your instrument. When things get hard, we approach them calmly and creatively.
I guide you through the frustration, not around it, because the growth happens in the solving. I don’t give shortcuts that fall apart later—instead, we learn to understand the "why" so the solutions stick. I believe in honesty, encouragement, and patience. You’ll get feedback that helps you grow, and you’ll always know where you stand. Teaching with integrity means creating a respectful environment where you feel safe to explore, ask questions, and make mistakes. I also stay flexible. Everyone’s brain works differently—some people are pattern-seekers, some are feelers, some are thinkers.
I adapt my tools and explanations to meet you where you are. Outside of Guitar, I can help you understand basic music theory, how to improvise with confidence, how to write your own music, or how to perform without fear. No matter what your goals are, I’ll be there with you, offering structure, support, and encouragement as you discover what music can mean in your life.
