About Alexander
I’m a passionate and dedicated Math tutor with a Predicted 7 in IB Math AA HL and a strong foundation in problem-solving, exam techniques, and real-world applications of mathematics. I’ve tutored students in IGCSE Additional Math, Math and Physics as well as IB Math AI and AA SL/HL and IB Physics SL/HL and university entrance-level math, helping them build confidence and achieve their academic goals. What makes my approach effective is that I’ve recently been through the same exams. I know which topics can be tricky, and I’ve developed clear strategies and tips to make learning smoother and more enjoyable. My aim is not just to help you memorize methods, but to ensure you truly understand the concepts and feel confident applying them under pressure. Outside of school, I’ve explored math through real-world projects, including my IB Extended Essay on water rocket modeling, and completed the Harvard Summer School course on Relativity, which expanded my understanding of mathematical thinking in advanced physics. As someone who recently completed the IB with a Predicted 7 in Maths AA HL, I understand how challenging and fast-paced maths courses can be — and how important it is to grasp the underlying concepts before jumping into practice.
My approach is student-focused and adaptable. In the first lesson, I take time to understand where you're struggling and how you prefer to learn. While I follow a general learning path that covers all major topics, I’m always happy to tailor sessions to your needs. If there’s a particular topic you’d like to focus on, you can simply email me beforehand — and I’ll prepare a custom lesson around it.
TYPICAL LESSON STRUCTURE:
- We begin with a quick review of theory, keeping it concise but clear.
- Then we move into targeted exercises, which make up the bulk of the lesson. This is essential as maths is a subject that’s mastered through practice.
-Finally any exam tricks and shortcuts which can help you excel in your exams.
This structure is not rigid and can be modified based on your needs and how you learn best, as in the end these tutoring sessions are for you!
