My Teaching Approach & Philosophy: By Icy Alba
Believing that language is a tool for connection rather than just a dry set of rules to memorize, my core approach focuses heavily on building your inner confidence alongside your technical competence. I utilize a Communicative and Task-Based Language Teaching (TBLT) methodology. This means you will never just passively sit back and listen to rigid lectures; instead, you will actively use English to solve real-world problems, engage in stimulating debates, and create original content from day one. I deliberately weave the four core pillars—Writing, Speaking, Listening, and Reading—together organically so that every single lesson feels entirely cohesive, practical, and deeply engaging.
A Typical 60-Minute Lesson Plan
Every session is carefully structured to maximize your engagement and ensure measurable progress:
The Warm-Up & Review (5–10 Minutes): A low-stakes, interactive chat or a quick vocabulary game designed to instantly switch your brain into "English mode" while seamlessly reviewing previous concepts.
The Focus Input (15 Minutes): Introduction of the day’s core concept (e.g., mastering persuasive writing structures or decoding fast-paced native listening tracks) using authentic, real-world materials like modern articles, podcasts, or contemporary media.
Guided Practice (20 Minutes): We tackle a collaborative task together. If we are focusing on speaking, this might be a structured roleplay or a lively mini-debate where I provide real-time, constructive feedback on your pronunciation and grammar.
Independent Application (10 Minutes): You take the wheel entirely. You will draft a short paragraph, deliver a mini-speech, or summarize a complex audio clip independently to prove your mastery of the material.
Wrap-Up & Action Plan (5 Minutes): We review exactly what you learned, highlight your major wins of the day, and set a clear, actionable goal for your personal study during the week ahead.
What Sets Me Apart
Hyper-Personalized Content: I absolutely refuse to use generic, outdated textbooks. I meticulously curate all lesson materials based entirely on your personal interests, career goals, or specific academic requirements.
Anxiety-Free Environment: Making mistakes is actively celebrated in my classroom. I specialize in turning language anxiety into communicative confidence by providing an incredibly supportive, high-energy, and judgment-free space.
Holistic Integration: Instead of isolating individual skills, I teach them simultaneously—showing you exactly how a reading text can inspire a writing piece, which we then discuss out loud to naturally practice your speaking and listening.
Who These Lessons Are For
My classes are fully adaptable and specifically tailored for a diverse range of students:
Academic Levels: High school students, university undergraduates, and postgraduate students looking to polish their academic writing, essays, and formal research presentations.
Proficiency Levels: From ambitious, absolute beginners who are just finding their voice to advanced speakers aiming for flawless fluency and subtle accent refinement.
Specific Needs: Professionals prepping for corporate interviews, students gearing up for international proficiency examsuuu
