About Cherlyn

I believe that learning piano should be both structured and enjoyable. Rather than simply memorising pieces, I'll help you understand the music you're playing so you can become a confident and independent musician. Having experienced the challenges of learning piano myself, I understand that everyone progresses differently. My aim is to create a positive atmosphere where students feel comfortable making mistakes, celebrating improvements, and enjoying every step of their musical journey.

About the lesson

Every lesson is carefully planned to help you make consistent progress while keeping learning enjoyable and engaging. We usually begin by reviewing the pieces and exercises you've practised since the previous lesson, discussing any challenges you encountered and celebrating your improvements. This allows me to identify areas that need extra attention and provide personalised feedback. We'll then work on developing essential piano skills, including technique, hand coordination, rhythm, note reading, musical expression, and performance confidence. Rather than simply correcting mistakes, I'll explain why certain techniques work and help you understand the musical concepts behind each piece, allowing you to become a more independent and confident musician.
