About Kyle

I am an ACM & COPA graduate offering Guitar lessons with 26 years of experience. During my studies, I achieved performance student of the year and graduated with distinction. Music is my first language – it’s what I use to express and communicate that which I believe words fail to adequately accomplish. Imparting knowledge and skill is one of the best ways we as musicians can give back to the industry. Each student is unique and has different reasons for wanting to learn to play their instrument of choice. Whether your goal is simply to learn to play your favorite songs or if your desire is to progress towards graded music exams, I can provide the structure and guidance required to help you achieve your music goals. I possess a smooth, inventive guitar playing style which speaks with an intuitive sophistication, always seeking to achieve a delicate balance between meticulous measurement and being emotionally explicit. I have toured extensively and supported International acts such as: Karnivool, Periphery, Protest the Hero, Dead Letter Circus, Killswitch Engage, Biffy Clyro, Foals, Underoath, and Blindside. My industry awards include: Won SAMMA (South African Metal Music Awards) Best Metal Drummer in February 2014. Won SAMMA (South African Metal Music Awards) Best Progressive Band June 2015.

About the lesson

After a quick assessment of the student's skill level and finding out about their goals for learning the instrument, I tailor lesson material to meet them where they are at. This includes the introduction of new concepts, from beginner to advanced levels. In addition to theory-based learning, students can also select songs they wish to learn in order to practice and strengthen their skills. - Lessons are in English. - Tuition is offered in all genres of music. - Providing 30min, 45min, and Hour lessons to both adults and children (aged 6 and older). - Beginner to advanced levels are welcome. - The following aspects are covered in the lessons: Technique, Theory, Improvisation, different playing styles, Sight Reading. - Customized lessons or Rockschool syllabus & exams offered.

Kyle is very flexible as a teacher, allowing me to develop at my own pace and to learn the things I'm interested in, not simply sticking to a rigid lesson plan.

Kyle is also very technically skilled as a drummer himself and that allows him to quickly identify any problems with my technique and to show me how to rectify them. That is the true value of a good teacher: without those little pointers, learning an instrument would be much more difficult. Kyle's assistance makes it easier to progress.

I would definitely recommend Kyle for anyone looking to learn a musical instrument.

He identified very early on where their passions lie and what type of music and guitar styles they enjoy and has been customizing their lessons according to that. A year down the line they are still enjoying it and are now able to play socially with other members of the family. I definitely recommend Kyle as a music tutor.
