About Alexis
I had an early start working as a tutor through a program at my grade school which partnered up 6th grade students with 2nd graders to improve reading comprehension and confidence. Since then I've been working with peers to improve their speaking and grammar skills in a relaxed environment. I love it because it keeps me in practice too!

Hello!
I'm a recent college graduate from Portland State University. My approach to language acquisition is to use interests and hobbies as a jumping-off point for conversation or writing. From there, lessons are curtailed to suite the student's goals.
For pre-college students, I focus on building a strong base for comprehension by developing the association between written letters and their phonetic sounds so that students can speak and read with confidence. This process drastically speeds up acquisition of new vocabulary by allowing speakers to commit the word to memory; English definition, French pronunciation, spelling and all!
For students in college, I will gladly help with achieving your course goals, such as:
-annihilating vocab. modules
-achieving reading comprehension
-employing rhetorical figures in writing
-developing textual analysis skills
I’m happy to work with all skill levels up to college and will structure our time together to find an immersive way to reach the student’s goals as efficiently as possible!
