For standardized test prep, understanding how the test operates and practice are the most important steps to succeed. Thus, I would have the student start with a practice test to identify weaknesses, then adjust my teaching focus to improve their weakest sections by talking through the relevant topics and practicing questions together. In terms of essay writing and editing, I would help the student by helping them brainstorm creative, unique ideas, then give writing tips and feedback to best craft their story or argument.
I am a Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering student at UC Berkeley, planning to minor in Gender and Women's Studies. I have been tutoring since 2019 in a variety of subjects. Though I am an engineering student, I also have a strong passion in English reading and writing, both in the context of STEM and the arts. I scored a 35 on the ACT, scored 5's on numerous AP exams, and have a lot of experience in standardized tests and writing college essays.
