About Paul
I have coached young athletes across the spectrum of skill levels - from beginners at summer swim clubs, to State Championship winning swim teams; young golfers who had never held a golf club before, to competitive high school athletes.
Upon graduating from Virginia Tech, I became an officer in the Marine Corps where I was in charge of 35 - 120 Marines throughout my first tour. My role included commanding, teaching, and mentoring the Marines in my charge. After my first three years in the Marines, I attended graduate school and earned a Master of Science in Management. Academic and Athletic excellence have been two of my priorities my entire life, and I have always loved to teach and coach. I also do my best to always have fun and foster a friendly but professional relationship with everyone I work with. I'm excited to work with you!

Writing has been a major requirement for my academic and professional career. I coached swimming for three years and golf for two years. Physical and Academic education are two of the most important things to me. I am capable of instructing English Composition and Grammar, giving swim lessons (if you have access to a pool), or both!
Academic Lesson Approach:
1) Understand student's assignment and requirements
2) Review student's work and understand points of confusion/areas where student needs assistance
3) Work through practical exercises to develop new skills
4) Test knowledge and ensure student is equipped to complete relevant coursework
Swim Lesson Approach:
1) Understand athlete's skill level and points of weakness
2) Work through drills to refine skills that need improvement
3) Conduct conditioning to strengthen athlete to properly execute techniques
4) Assign practice plan the athlete can perform outside of lessons
I am capable of tutoring elementary through middle school English, Grammar, and Composition, and am capable of coaching swimming to all skill levels - from beginner swim lessons up to high school athletes.
