About Erik
I am a graduated HSC Mathematics/Physics student who is doing a double major in Mathematics and Physics at University of New South Wales. My experience with tutoring primarily comes from mentoring in a community of just over 2,000 students at ConquerHSC, where I have tutored for advanced, extension 1 & 2 mathematics, physics and chemistry. I used to also tutor on Monday's at my school (Smiths Hill High School) for students before exam periods, which has been met with praise after the exams were over.
Specifically for HSC students, I have spoken with various HSC markers for the senior mathematics and science courses on how best to undertake exams and set out your work (surprisingly a lot of students are bad at this!) This will come in very handy for finding success in the HSC, on top of the understanding of content that I am more than happy to help with!

Depending on the context of teaching taking place, my methodology falls into a few categories:
If the student is struggling with a concept, there is an emphasis on explaining in an easy way how to tackle the problem and attempt to allow the student to get an understanding of the process.
If the student is simply reviewing, the emphasis is primarily on asking out of the box questions in an attempt to make concrete the learnt concepts (primarily for tackling harder, more conceptual questions.)
If the student wishes to get ahead in their studies, the emphasis is on self-discovery and an attempt to introduce new ideas through guided exercises, as well as questions that involve noticing patterns, is adopted.
