About Sarah

I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in Bluegrass, Country & Old Time Music studies from East Tennessee State University with a concentration in teaching. Ive been teaching music for about 5 years and I absolutely love it. I also tour with The Wyatt Ellis Band and we recorded our first album this year, along with playing the Grand Ole Opry several times over the last two years. Also, I’m in the house band for a PBS show called Farm & Fun Time in Bristol, Tennessee. We play country/rockabilly music. I’m also in a band called “The Shedhouse Trio.” We’ve played hundreds of shows, mostly at Ole Smoky distillery in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. For 20 years, music has been my life and I can’t think of anything more rewarding.

About the lesson

My teaching method is very much dependent on what my student wants. I try to cater to what they need based on where they are in their individual musical journey. Lessons are casual, fun, stress free, and the students choose what they would like to learn, but I have a lesson plan if the student doesn’t know what they want yet.

Sarah is so great I’m so many ways. I’m taking upright bass with her right now & I’ve never learned so fast in my LIFE! Somehow, she makes things make sense that I could never understand before. I took upright bass from Sarah all of last year over Skype and she was just incredible. I’ve never had a teacher who makes things so easy to understand. She truly takes the time to make sure you understand, while also teaching you the things you’re interested in. She’s so fun as well! Highly Recommend!
