About Kate

I am a dedicated singing tutor with more than 8 years of experience and a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Vocal Performance. I teach students of all levels, from school-age singers to college performers and adult professionals. My primary focus is musical theater and Broadway performance, where vocal technique must work hand in hand with acting and storytelling. I help students develop character through song, guiding them to make intentional choices while staying vocally healthy. Stage presence is an important part of my lessons, and I work with singers to build confidence, awareness, and connection with their audience. I specialize in belt technique, ensuring it is developed in a safe and sustainable way. Vocal agility is another area I emphasize, especially for repertoire that requires fast emotional or stylistic changes. My jazz background strengthens my teaching in ear training, harmony, improvisation, and music theory. I believe these skills enhance musical understanding and performance confidence. I am passionate about nurturing individual voices and honoring each singer’s natural sound. Lessons are interactive, supportive, and customized to each student’s goals. I strive to create a space where singers feel encouraged to explore and grow. I look forward to helping you prepare for the stage with confidence.

About the lesson

My teaching approach is centered on helping singers communicate meaning, not just sound. Singing is storytelling, and every song carries emotion, intention, and truth. I work closely with students on lyric interpretation, helping them understand what the words truly mean and why they matter. Together, we explore emotional connection so the voice feels honest and alive. I guide singers to tell stories through music, shaping phrases in a way that feels natural and expressive. Technique is important, but expression always leads. I also focus on how singers connect with their audience, using tone, dynamics, and clarity to convey feeling. Authentic expression is at the heart of every lesson. I give special attention to singers working on classic and expressive repertoire, including pieces similar in depth to Fiddler on the Roof and The Music Man. I dedicate myself to refining their ability to move listeners and hold attention. Lessons include vocal control, phrasing, storytelling, and emotional pacing. I support students step by step, helping them grow confident in their voice and message. My goal is for singers to truly embody their songs and perform with purpose.
