About Barry
I’m Barry, an Aeronautical Engineering student at the University of Sydney who recently moved from Western Australia. My long-term goal is to become a university professor, and teaching has always been a central part of that ambition. I genuinely enjoy helping students reach the moment when a difficult concept suddenly makes sense, and I bring that same enthusiasm and commitment to measurable improvement into every lesson.
Mathematics has always been one of my strongest subjects, and I specialize in breaking down complex and challenging ideas into clear, logical steps. My students see real progress because I focus on proven problem-solving strategies, exam technique, and building strong foundations that translate directly into higher marks. Whether you need help with difficult homework, want to strengthen your fundamentals, or are preparing for the HSC, I provide structured, goal-oriented tutoring designed to deliver tangible results.

I focus on helping students understand exactly what examiners are looking for and how to consistently achieve high marks. My teaching is exam-focused and structured around past papers and carefully selected example problems, so students become highly familiar with common question styles and marking criteria. I break down complex concepts into clear, logical steps and emphasize problem-solving strategies that students can reliably apply under exam conditions. My goal is to build both deep conceptual understanding and exam confidence, so students know not just how to solve problems, but why the methods work.
Lessons typically run for 1–2 hours, depending on the student’s needs and attention span. I am an Aeronautical Engineering student who actively uses advanced mathematics in my studies, and I bring 8+ years of experience working as both a tutor and sports instructor. I have achieved a 98+ ATAR and earned high distinctions in two university-level mathematics units, which supports my ability to teach rigorous problem-solving techniques clearly and effectively.
My lessons are suitable for students at any level from primary school through HSC preparation and university readiness. I welcome learners of all ages and abilities and adapt my teaching style to suit each student’s goals, whether that is building foundations, improving grades, or preparing for competitive exams. I hold a valid Working With Children Check, and I strive to create a supportive, focused learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and pushing their understanding.
