About Tamara
Hello, my name is Tamara and I am going into my third year of university, where I study Aerospace Engineering. I achieved an overall 2:1 in both my first and second years, and I particularly enjoy maths and science-based subjects. I enjoy helping others understand difficult topics and aim to make lessons friendly, engaging and tailored to each student's confidence and ability.
I know how difficult studying can be, especially during GCSEs, and I think it is vital that students feel understood and encouraged to improve. I believe that, with the right support, students can achieve what they put their minds to. During my A-levels, I raised my Chemistry grade from an E to a high B, and the support of my tutor played a huge part in that improvement. Having experienced the difference that good tutoring can make firsthand, I want to provide that same encouragement and support to my own students.

My teaching approach focuses heavily on examples and active practice. I believe students learn best when they are able to apply a concept themselves rather than simply being shown how something works. I encourage students to work through problems, make mistakes and understand where they went wrong, as this helps them build the confidence to approach similar questions independently in the future. I also adapt my explanations and examples depending on how each student learns and which areas they find most challenging.
My strongest tutoring subjects are GCSE Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. I achieved a Grade 9 in GCSE Mathematics and Grade 8s in both GCSE Physics and Chemistry, and I continued all three subjects at A-level. My degree has allowed me to develop my Mathematics and Physics knowledge further and apply these subjects to real engineering problems.
