About Mitch

I’m a dedicated Year 11 student currently studying VCE Mathematical Methods and Specialist Mathematics. I wasn’t always a top math student, in fact, I started Year 11 Methods almost failing. That experience taught me how important strong fundamentals are, and it pushed me to rebuild my understanding from the ground up. Since then, I’ve gone from struggling with basic concepts to achieving near-perfect marks, now averaging 95 in Specialist and 90 in Methods.

Because I’ve been through that journey myself, I understand exactly where students get stuck and how overwhelming math can feel when the basics aren’t solid. My goal as a tutor is to make math clear, simple, and confidence-building. I focus on helping students strengthen their foundations so they can improve quickly and feel proud of their progress.

About the lesson

I focus on making maths simple, clear, and building confidence for Years 7–10 students. My teaching approach is structured, and tailored to each student’s level and goals. I start by identifying what the student already understands, where they’re struggling, and what their school is currently covering. From there, I break concepts down into easy steps, use worked examples, and guide students through practice questions until they feel confident working independently.

Techniques & Teaching Methodology
I use a mix of warm‑up questions, clear explanations, guided practice, and independent problem‑solving. I adjust the pace depending on the student’s confidence and learning style. I also provide custom worksheets and notes to reinforce each topic and help students revise between sessions.

Typical Length of a Lesson
A standard lesson runs for 60-120 minutes. This gives enough time to review previous work, work through school assigned tasks, and finish with a short recap.

Qualifications & Experience
I am a Year 11 VCE Mathematical Methods and Specialist Mathematics student, currently averaging 95 in Specialist and 90 in Methods. I have strong knowledge of the Victorian curriculum for Years 7–10 and regularly help classmates with maths concepts, problem‑solving, and exam preparation.
