About Aiden
Hello, this is Aiden speaking, well typing actually (cringe). I graduated with a First Class (Hons) from Royal Holloway University of London. I then graduated from the University of Warwick with a distinction in philosophy. I am looking for students who are driven to achieve, and 'cultivate their philosophical skills'. I have an insatiable passion for teaching and learning alike. My style of teaching considers 'stupid questions' to be mandatory. The formulation of questions is absolutely central to all learning, philosophical or otherwise. I am also young, just like you, so I might be able to understand your jokes. Anyway, I can help out on anything from Hegel's Phenomenology of Spirit to Plato interpretation. From Jungian Psychoanalysis to Spinoza's Ethics. From Chalmers' Hard Problem of Consciousness to Sartre's Existentialism. Aiden is skilled as a tutor. Despite my lack of background knowledge in philosophy he is able to explain concepts in a way that is easily understood while not shying away from more complex ideas. He is extremely personable while also remaining professional and on topic.
Other than Aiden’s superb intelligence and enthusiasm for knowledge, he is a compassionate individual who seeks the good in all aspects of life. He values education as a means to better oneself morally and mentally. Have confidence that Aiden will always consider every angle of your learning and set you on the correct path.
Dear this site,
It is my absolute pleasure to give Aiden my highest possible recommendation for this site. I have taught Aiden on numerous modules since he started at Royal Holloway and have gotten to know him very well over the years. From this I can say that he is by far the most determined, enthusiastic, and passionate student I have ever taught. This was reflected in his grades, with him consistently scoring in the 1.1 bracket. He was also heavily involved in numerous philosophy-focused extra-curricular activities at Royal Holloway, from acting as VP of the Philosophy Society, to attending every department research seminar, to regularly presenting pieces for discussion at my fortnightly aesthetics circle. I have also had countless conversations about philosophy with him in my office into the wee hours. As touched on above, Aiden’s passion for philosophy is unmatched in any student I have previously taught. I have watched Aiden mature from a naïve young man fresh out of school to a budding young philosopher brimming with potential – he has taken on board every piece of advice and feedback offered to him by staff, and this has turned him into a well-rounded aspiring academic. Indeed, he tells me he wishes to pursue a PhD after his MA, and I fully believe he has the potential to do so. In fact, it is on my advice that Aiden has decided to become a private tutor to fund his postgraduate studies, as, again, I think he is perfect for it.
Faithfully,
Dr. David PrestonAiden is an immensely talented and motivated philosopher. Most of all, though, he is articulate, patient and a great communicator. He has all the makings of a great tutor and I very much recommend him for this position.
