About Ken

Hello! My name is Ken, and I am an Air Force Veteran, Educator, and tutor passionate about helping students build confidence and succeed academically.
I previously taught 5th grade and currently continue working in education as a substitute teacher and college instructor. My experience has allowed me to work with a wide range of learners, including students who need additional academic support, confidence-building, and individualized instruction.
I enjoy creating a positive and encouraging learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and learning at their own pace. I believe patience, structure, and consistency are key to helping students grow both academically and personally.
In addition to elementary education support, I assist students and adult learners with GED preparation, study skills, and homework. My goal is to help every student feel capable, supported, and successful.

As both a veteran and educator, I bring professionalism, adaptability, and dedication to every tutoring session.

About the lesson

I provide supportive, structured, and encouraging tutoring for students of all ages. As an Air Force veteran, former fifth-grade teacher, and current substitute educator, I understand that every student learns differently and deserves patience, consistency, and confidence-building support.
I offer help in elementary subjects, including math, science, social studies, reading support, homework help, study skills, and GED preparation. I especially enjoy helping students who may feel behind, overwhelmed, or frustrated with school by breaking concepts down into simpler, manageable steps.
My teaching style focuses on:
-Building confidence and reducing academic stress
-Creating a positive and judgment-free learning environment
-Adapting lessons to each student's learning style
-Using real-life examples and step-by-step instructions
-Encouraging independent thinking and growth
Whether your student needs ongoing academic support, homework help, test preparation, or GED assistance, my goal is to help them feel more confident and successful both in and outside the classroom.

Monday, Wednesday, and Friday: 12:00 pm-6:00 pm PST
Select Weekends: 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM EST (by appointment/availability)

This first lesson offered with Ken will allow you to get to know each other and clearly specify your needs for your next lessons.

Online (via Zoom) is max 40 minutes ($18).

The price is $20 for a full hour. Because of Zoom, we can do 40 minutes, log off, and then log back on to complete the last 20 minutes.

Yes, I can meet at your home, church, or local library.
Whichever option is most accessible to you, the $15 travel fee still applies.

If any facility we meet at requires a fee to rent or use, it will be added to the total cost of the tutoring session. If able, please check your local library or facility to confirm whether fees apply and whether there is a process to schedule a room or area for our session. Please bring all school materials, laptop, tablet, pencil, paper, calculator, etc.

I can accept Zelle, Cash, and Apple Pay. Receipts will be given upon receiving payment.

Please make sure an email address is available at the time of booking so we can send receipts and any course materials I have created for students to help with their studies.
