About Yusuf

Seven years teaching at HE Institutions across the UK has been the foundation of all future lecturing and tutoring, which is combined with a wide range of essential and complimentary professional practice in both architectural and engineering. Further work as a sculptor with an arts collective and as a singer and musician in bands add to the cultural and practical joy of working with space and with words. I am honoured to be the only architectural Jameel Scholar Alumni from Cardiff University, and also an Alumni of the Welsh School of Architecture.

About the lesson

I have tutored for seven years at leading universities across the UK, with excellent student feedback and a methodology that has enabled students to reach their goals and beat their daemons. Studying architecture is both fruitful and fun when it goes well, but it is also very challenging; and design is always a discussion, a dialogue. Sometimes the hardest part of a module is unpacking the design brief and establishing an excellent approach to thinking and design, sometimes a dissertation outline needs to be thrown about and discussed to see what you really want to do to get the most from your subject. I am here to guide you through the learning outcomes and to help you to achieve them, while developing your design and theory intentions and giving you essential feedback throughout. I have taught every kind of student and worked with a wide range of abilities and strengths and weaknesses; this path of learning is about your own personal development and grit and love of the subject. You may be a Da Vinci when it comes to drawing or you may be a Supergeek who loves wondrous diagrams and processes - Architecture needs you all!

Rates are based on the lowest tutoring rate at HE level in the UK. The first lesson is free to all students but is a half an hour introductory session.
