About Lisa
Hi! I’m Lisa Newton, a high school honors student who believes mastering the fundamentals is the key to academic success. Over the past several years, I have dedicated myself to peer tutoring, mentoring grade school children, and serving as a student instructor for a nonprofit youth violin program. Through these experiences, I have developed a patient, adaptive teaching style that breaks down complex ideas into simple, digestible steps. Mathematics is my specialty and passion. I hold a 3.99 overall GPA, a perfect 4.0 in every math class, and have won academic awards in the subject for two consecutive years. Having already completed all state high school math requirements, I am advancing to college-level math and science courses this upcoming school year. Beyond my qualifications, I have a genuine love for teaching and look forward to building your child's confidence and foundational skills!

I specialize in homework help, concept review, and pre-school year prep for anyone trying to get ready for the upcoming school year in math or reviewing their previous year.
First there will be an initial communication about goals, past struggles, then together we will craft a plan to review and learn what is necessary to reach goals.
I teach through a mix of practical application of the concept, numerous practice problems and examples, and direct instruction. I am also flexible and able to adjust teaching style to accommodate a variety of learning needs as seen fit.
