About Shakira

Hello, my name is Kira, I am 28 years old, I am American, and I've been giving language copursdes for 4 years. I lhave lived in France for 3 years. I have a degree in French Language and Litterature and I am currently pursuing my Masterr in Paris. I started learning the language when I was 10 years old; it is this first experience that started my "French journey" and my interest in the culture and my passion for teaching. In high school I was lucky to have a French teacher who inspired challenged me. It is thanks to her that I knew that one day I would also give language lessons, sharing my knowledge and helping others. Being bilingual is not only essential for the job market, but also useful because it is through vocabulary and the way of expressing oneself that one understands another culture.

About the lesson

It is my own experience as a life-long language studnet that makes me more versatile and efficient as an instructor because I personally know the learning methods and I understand the difficulties. Speaking a foreign language is my passion, I wish share this passion with my students so that they have better language skills. My methods vary according to the students level and their goals, that is to say that the course could be more structured or open-ended according to their needs. Regardless of the student's age, my classes remain diverse and fun. I strongly feel that it's important to practice at home between classes so that the student improves, I therefor like to give homework between classes. I also incorporate activities such as games, songs, and role-play, so that the student prepares for real life scenarios.

Details

My price of € 20 per hour is based on the idea that one hour of class requires one hour of preparation on my part. The price may be negotiable depending on the program. As for location, in general I can cole to you without any additional charge for a distance up to 30-35 min from home. If your home is further away we can discuss the options.
I stongly feel group classes a very effective way to learn a language! In a group you push your limits and you learn from others, which makes the course richer. In this case the prices are negotiable, that said, in general I apply a discount: ex- a course of one hour of 2 people is € 30, a course of 1.5 hours of 2 people is € 40.
