About Linda
I'm not the 'stereotypical' TV generated English teacher we often encounter. I'm a sympathetic, practical, intelligent, amusing woman and mother of two (grown) children. I grew up in a family in a small town in Middle Tennessee. My mother, myself, and my two sisters were all teachers. My brother served in Vietnam as a Marine. My father was a pipefitter foreman at TVA. My deceased husband was a great attorney in Kingsport (John Bingham - I always kept my maiden name) . . . I have spare time on my hands and would like to help others. I have a great sense of humor unlike 'some' English teachers I had! I think a sense of humor is one of the most important things in life! So would love to chat to see if I could assist you and/or your child or relative or friend!

I'm a former English 6th grade and high school in Kingsport TN and in Bristol, TN; I have an undergraduate degree in Criminology from FSU in Tallahassee, Master's in English Education from the University of Tennessee Knoxville. My mother was a teacher, Supervisor of Instruction, guidance counselor, principal of an elementary school and finally Superintendent of Schools in Humphreys County, TN. Both of my sisters were teachers; it is a family virus! My husband of 47 years, John S. Bingham, was a medical malpractice attorney here in town, but died of Multiple Myeloma several years ago.
I'm a good writer and would be particularly helpful with your writing skills. I am open to new and old teaching methods! I have a good sense of humor! I'm most familiar with middle schoolers, high schoolers and college students and have not taught in the elementary grades but love kids and would be happy to take a crack at it! My sister could give me some tips since those are the grades she taught. I love to assist foreign students who need help with the English language and writing skills. I lived in England for a while and have traveled in Europe extensively. I grew up in a tiny town in Middle TN on Kentucky Lake - which forms the border dividing Middle and West Tennessee.
