About Lenzy

I am an American educator with 11 years of experience working in education across a wide range of classroom environments. Throughout my career, I have frequently worked with Spanish-speaking ESL students in rural Nevada communities, giving me firsthand understanding of the challenges, frustrations, and successes that come with learning a new language.

I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Sciences with studies in History, Anthropology, Psychology, and Politics. This academic background has given me a deeper understanding of the social, cultural, and geographic factors that influence language learning and communication. I am also TEFL-certified with a 120-hour certification in Teaching English as a Foreign Language. My teaching approach combines professionalism, patience, structure, consistency, and encouragement to help students build confidence and improve their English skills, step-by-step.

My background includes 5 years as an on-call substitute teacher where I worked in early childhood, elementary, junior high, high school, Special Education, and remedial classrooms. This experience taught me how to adapt to different learning styles, personalities, age groups, and classroom situations while maintaining a calm, structured, and supportive learning environment.

I also spent 5 years as a preschool teaching assistant, where I learned the importance of patience, repetition, consistency, and positive engagement with young learners. Working in early childhood education strengthened my ability to make lessons interactive, approachable, and encouraging while still maintaining clear instructional expectations.

Most recently, I completed my first year as a First Grade Teacher, teaching English Language Arts, Mathematics, and Geography in a rural Nevada community. This experience strengthened my understanding of lesson planning, curriculum implementation, differentiation, phonics instruction, literacy development, classroom management, and standards-based instruction.

About the lesson

My teaching style is structured, patient, interactive, and highly focused on repetition and consistency.

I specialize in phonics, pronunciation, reading fluency, and beginner English skills. My lessons often include phonics practice with blends and vowel patterns, spoken phonemic awareness exercises, guided reading, vocabulary development, and conversational practice.

Firstly, a typical lesson may involve practicing letter sounds and blends, reading together aloud, pronunciation correction, and repeated fluency exercises. This is where I model reading first, then guide students step-by-step toward independent reading.

Secondly, I aim to help students master irregular sight words through repetition techniques such as reading, spelling, speaking, and writing words multiple times to improve retention and confidence.

I am both confident and believe that my experience working with young learners, diverse classrooms, and English language learners allows me to adapt lessons to each student’s pace and ability level in a supportive and consistent learning environment.
