About Ashlyn
Teaching 83 students across various stages has taught me that musical clarity requires absolute focus. Sometimes I admit that finding the right approach for an adult learner demands more patience than coaching a young prodigy.
My dual background in the German violin tradition and formal piano diploma study informs every correction I offer. True fluency in piano performance rarely comes from repetitive drilling alone. Effortless speed is actually the result of extreme physical economy and mental preparation. My lessons incorporate everything from rhythm and timing to complex chord voicing based on my years of training. We examine memorization techniques and sight transposition to ensure you are never caught off guard.
I utilize my background from the Cleveland Institute of Music to refine your posture and hand position for long-term health. We cover jazz improvisation and classical repertoire with the same level of disciplined attention. This comprehensive focus prepares you for ABRSM or Trinity examinations with total control.
Students learn to navigate accompaniment skills through methodical practice cycles. You will discover how to shape each phrase with intentionality and grace.
