About Megan

A recent graduate of the Metropolitan Opera’s Lindemann Young Artist Development Program, contralto Megan Esther Grey is quickly gaining attention in roles large and small across the United States. She is currently a DMA student in Voice Performance and Literature at the University of North Texas and an active freelance performer across the nation. In 2021-2022, she returned to The Metropolitan Opera to cover both Suzuki and Kate Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly, performed the title role in Britten’s The Rape of Lucretia with UNT Opera, sang Emilia in a concert production of Verdi’s Otello with the UNT Symphony Orchestra, and made her Washington Concert Opera debut as Mistress Bentson in Lakmé. In the summer of 2022 Ms. Grey joined the Santa Fe Opera, covering the role of Brangäne in Tristan und Isolde. During the 2022-2023 season, Ms. Grey will make her Opera San Jose debut as Emeline in Alma Deutscher’s Cinderella and Mistress Quickly in Falstaff. She will also appear as the soloist in Mahler’s Rückert Lieder with the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Symphony Orchestra and cover Dritte Dame in both the holiday adaptation and the new production of Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte with The Metropolitan Opera. The 2023-2024 season will see Ms. Grey's return to The Metropolitan Opera Roster covering the role of Gertrude in Gounod's Romeo et Juliette, debut as the Alto Soloist in Mahler's Symphony No. 2 "Resurrection," and as Vocal Soloist in Arnold Schoenberg's infamous Pierrot Lunaire with the University of North Texas NOVA Ensemble.

About the lesson

I cater my teaching to you. I have fundamental thoughts on how to set up the vocal instrument to prevent injury, gain evenness throughout registrations, and release whatever voice you natively have in you. I believe anyone can sing, and my goal is to help you master your instrument so that you can sing for years to come.
