About Deanna
I have been teaching biology for over 15 years and have a current Californa teaching credential, and a Master’s in educational technology. My experience includes several years of one to one teaching and tutoring in virtual environments. I am currently a content creator for Crimson Education that specializes in preparing students for the IB Biology exam including in depth review and strategies for test questions. I have extensive experience and training in IBDP Biology, and AP Biology. I have also supported students through the entire Internal Assessment process that focuses on experimental design. I have a deep love for science and its ability to explain the world and I hope to share that wonder and enthusiasm with your students!

I have an easy going, lighthearted nature with students that focuses on connection and positive reinforcement. My approach is to first assess the needs of each student and then to meet them where they are. If appropriate, I use a socratic method, asking students questions that allow them to draw the proper conclusions so they can understand the concepts behind the content. Some students may need more of a foundation before this approach is practical. Other students may have room to improve with study strategies, goal setting for large projects and tests, organization, and time management. I have taught a variety of students from advanced students who need just a bit more clarity to extend their understanding to students with learning challenges.
