About Reuben
My name is Reuben, and I am an engineering and physics student at the ANU studying a combination of mechatronic systems, physics, and mathematics. I recently completed my honours thesis in theoretical physics with a focus on quantum mechanics and its applications, receiving a high distinction and am currently in the process of writing a paper based on my research. I graduated from St Peter’s College in 2017, achieving an IB score of 43/45 (ATAR: 99.70), studying: Mathematics HL (7), Chemistry HL (7), Physics SL (7), Spanish ab initio SL (7), English Literature A HL (6), Geography SL (6), Extended Essay – Geography (A) and Theory of Knowledge (B).
As a tutor, not only do I want to help students excel in their subjects, I want to foster their passion and curiosity for learning. I seek to ignite genuine curiosity in my students, helping them learn how to ask new and exciting questions, and how to go about answering them!

I have worked as a tutor for the past 5 years, both privately and at the ANU, and in that time have tutored students at several levels – ranging all the way from early high school to later year university. Over the years, I have refined my approach to tutoring considerably, and have developed a method that fuses explanations with helpful real-world examples, intertwined with detailed exemplar problems. Ultimately, however, I have come to appreciate the individuality of each person in how they learn, and understand the importance of tailoring my approach to suit a student’s individual needs.
