My education especially in mathematics was difficult at first-Algebra. However I was fortunate enough to have a teacher who explained steps at level I was capable to understand. That caught my interest and it continued to grow. Since my grades were not college level eligible at the time I went to Nassau COMMUNITY COLLEGE, obtained my Associated Arts and Science degree, transferred all credits to S.U.N.Y Stony Brook New York and maintained at least a 3.25 in applied math and operations research. After matriculation to Stony Brook University, I took advanced math courses in combinatorial math and applied math classes which modeled for example an ecological system and what would be effect of removing trees, water, and other attributes of the ECOSYSTEM to arrive at an optimal feasible solution.
I have been conducting tutoring/mentoring sessions for more than five years to ascertain the mathematical level of the student. Utilizing informative but stress less interviews, the approach (both formal & informal) enables me as an instructor to evaluate the students understanding of mathematical basics like percentages, fractions(simple /complex ), various numeric systems, such as Statements and Sets, Counting problems, Probability and Statistics, Graph Theory, Vectors and Matrices, all of which can be applied as a common denominator for science and business applications. This allows me to identify the depth of the students knowledge and detect and isolate areas which may require remediation. Once this baseline is established, the particular topic of study will commence. This technique allows me to determine the students number sense or their level/depth of mathematical skill and understanding. Over the last five(5) plus years I have followed this outline successfully for at least 50 plus students. Of special note was a student that needed to improve her SAT Math score by 20 points. She was able to raise her score by 200 points in Math. Not all students improved by a factor of ten, but I am pleased to report not one student experienced regression in the Mathematics area. I attribute this to the students interest to advance and providing them with the necessary belief and confidence that they can achieve their objective provided they apply themselves.
Although there is an hourly rate, I have negotiated and provided an equitable payment plan for students who require special consideration.
Anthony would be a great teacher. He was trustworthy and reliable. He helped me understand math when I was struggling pretty badly. I really believe I got an A in my class because of him and his help. He was there when I needed him and was always happy to help. He has a way about teaching that makes it seem so easy. I strongly believe Anthony would be an amazing teacher!
