About Avneet

I have more than 5 years of tutoring experience. I have taught Calculus at University of Waterloo as a sessional instructor and have been a teaching assistant for several math courses. The topics vary from school level math, SAT, AP prep, IB to Bachelors and Masters level analysis, calculus (1, 2 and 3), algebra, probability, statistics and differential equations. I teach Grade 11-12 Functions, Advanced Functions, Calculus and Vectors, Probability and Statistics as well. I provide 1-on-1 lessons tailored to the students need. I tutor online as well as in person. I have been tutoring from Spring 2020 onwards. I have already taught more than 75 students in 1-on-1 sessions. I offer mock exams as well.

I did my PhD at University of Waterloo in Applied Mathematics(2025 graduate). I have a Masters degree in Mathematics and Computing from IIT Hyderabad, India and a Bachelors degree in Mathematics from DAV University, India. If you have more questions, feel free to reach out.

About the lesson

I like to introduce concepts by giving real life applications and then slowly transforming to academically accepted language of the topic. This gives the student time to process what would actually be the importance of the topic they are studying. I then switch to problems related to the topic so as to make it easier for the students to solve their school/university assignments. I do not prefer dictating answers. I like to make the student equipped enough to write their own answers. I believe each student can be made independent enough with some amount of tutoring. You do not need a tutor for life, just for guidance. I also provide relevant homework and notes. All homework solutions are reviewed by me. All students have access to my phone number and email and get a response to their doubts within 48 hours.

When and why did you develop an interest in your chosen field?
Look around and you will find math everywhere. Even the no. of biscuits you share with your friends are math. So, an innate interest in mathematics grew within me quite early but a decision to pursue a career in it was made after grade 12 when I sat back and thought about what I loved to do the most.
What makes you passionate about your subject?
Knowing how mathematics is actually the base of all modern technologies including autonomous vehicles, keeps me motivated to explore the subject deeply.
What do you like about tutoring? What makes you a "Superprof"?
I like the fact that students come for tutoring to understand concepts clearly and are actually focussed on studying. SUperprof gives the flexibility to both the tutor and the student to fix their own schedule and that is the best thing.

Yes, a lot of teachers have inspired me on my journey. The most important of them being my Master's supervisor and a grade 11 math teacher.
