About Eric Bryant Eastham

I first took a computer programming course while attending undergraduate courses at Snow College. Despite having close family in computer science and a half baked attempt at working through a C# textbook while in high school, this was my first serious experience in learning to code. I enjoyed it so much that I then took the next course in the series, despite it not being in my major requirements. I even dabbled as a Computer Science major when I first transferred to Utah State University, where I took further coursework in C++, Java, and a brief foray into C, Assembly, and computer logic. As I completed my university degree, I retook the introductory computer science course as the language had switched to Python.

I've used computer coding in my university coursework, utilizing small scripts to answer questions, analyze and parse data, generate graphs, and run simulations. My undergraduate research project involving writing custom code to collect acceleration data, read data from files, run calculations, and generate additional data files and graphs for inertial navigation.

I've also pursued personal projects in coding, running from my first out of class computer game, where I had the user try to guess a number, to an attempted full simulation of the game Axis and Allies using Java.

Computer programming at its core stems from logic, being able to boil a problem down to its fundamental steps, and writing a set of instructions that both you and the computer are able to understand and complete. I've taken many courses at the university level in multiple languages that have both interested me in pursuing projects outside of the classroom and prompted me to keep pursuing knowledge of computer science.

A typical lesson should be structured around what questions you have regarding a computer science course you are taking, or possibly even a personal project which you are currently working on. The answers to these questions will then take us to gain a further understanding of the principles which the questions are based on, topics that are currently being discussed in class, and what errors are being encountered. Finally, these principles should be fully understood through practice.

These lessons are for anyone undertaking a course at the undergraduate level, working on projects at university, or for those enterprising individuals who want to learn about coding in C++, Java, and Python. A basic lesson should be between 30 to 60 minutes long.

Courses that I have taken in university are:
Programming Fundamentals I (CS 1400) C++ and Python
Programming FUndamentals II (CS 1410) C++
Introduction to Event Driven Programming and GUI's (CS 2410) C++
Computer Systems Organization and Architecture (CS 3810) C, Assembly
