About Rosalind
I am a retired teacher of Maths and Science with over 25 years teaching experience and 6 years working as a tutor. I also worked as a volunteer in schools providing Maths support to small groups of KS4 pupils.
Before starting tuition, I like to meet the student and parent/carer at my home. This lets us discuss what the student hopes to get from tuition, their career aspirations, hobbies and interests. This helps me to plan future sessions.
I identify students’ area(s) of difficulty and then design a teaching program to best meet their needs. I give homework after each session, to reinforce topics covered. Where possible, I like to have a copy of topics from the school so that I can link in tutoring sessions with work covered in school.
I maintain a happy, relaxed atmosphere as I think students learn better this way and are more able to focus on their work.
In the run up to exams, I will do exam practice, both as a confidence booster and to identify areas that need more support.
