About Helen
I am a professional aquarist and animal keeper, formerly known in my neighborhood as 'Zookeeper' for my own pet collection. Although my snakes, spiders, crocodiles, and monitor lizards, were the most fascinating to the public, my own focus was on fishes first and foremost. I have experience with coral and planted aquariums. My works have appeared in printed and online formats, and currently, my new book on aquarium science is forthcoming. Personally I enjoy not only writing and wildlife, but also the history of zoos and public aquaria, geography, philosophy, anthropology, social history, pizza making, boating, and curious Fortean phenomena.
