About John

Hi, I’m John, an architect with a Master’s degree in Architecture and over 8 years of teaching experience.

I’m patient, empathetic, and passionate about helping students grow with confidence. Over the years, I’ve gained a wide range of professional experience in architecture, design, and client-based projects, which allows me to bring both practical knowledge and creative insight into my teaching.

My goal as an architect is to create functional, sustainable, and beautiful spaces that make living, working, and interacting more joyful. I’m currently working as a freelance architect, collaborating with amazing people from around the world.

I’m excited to share my skills, answer your questions, and guide you through your journey into the world of architecture, whether you’re just starting out or looking to strengthen your design, technical, or conceptual skills.

In addition, I can assist with academic portfolio development for university admissions, and professional portfolio building for job applications, industry expectations, and career preparation.

  • When and why did you develop an interest in your chosen field?

It all started when I was at a very young age, drawing the basic triangle roofed house we all drew when we were young, with the smiling sun and some trees around. I used to love drawing, but even more, going into details and questioning every single part of what I now call architecture. Moreover, before entering architecture school, I used to site-intern with my grand-father who was one of the greatest construction contractors in town, with a wide knowledge in the construction industry, people used to call him "the professor Hanna".
  • What makes you passionate about your subject?

Architecture is all about passion. You cannot be an artist without being passionate and fully focused and immersed in what you are doing... Same thing with architecture. Being able to study architecture for seven years and finishing valedictorian of my masters degree was all about my passion for the field.
  • What do you like about tutoring? What makes you a "Superprof"?

What I like about tutoring is the ability to convey my knowledge and every thing I have learned about this field to my students, in my very personal way, making them love what they are working on. Architecture is a very stressful and energy draining career, I want to give my students every tip I can to make their lives easier.
  • Do you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you? Please explain.

I am very influenced by one of my university professors, who had a very successful career in architecture, built a variety of stunning projects, and was also a university professor. I remember that he had a very effective learning strategy, he was one of the few professors who had all his students listen to the whole 120 minutes of his architectural analysis class. I am in weekly contact with him and I consider him my mentor.
  • What are your keys to success?

In my opinion and experience, the keys to success are:
Being patient and consistent, Listening more than talking, Being curious and asking, Start with the end in mind, and most importantly Never give up, even when everything tells you to do so!
