About Azaliah
I have years of experience as a copywriter and editor. I've worked publicly and privately on an array of projects including teaching vital vocabulary and technical skills to non-native English speakers from a variety of backgrounds.
I’ve written fiction, nonfiction, and creative nonfiction, and have worked on everything from blogs to novels, as well as academic papers and bibliographies.
I have experience with the Swahili language and have spent years working within the African community to help refugees and former refugees gain a better understanding of American English as well as American life.
As a doula, I have also helped many young women to understand their bodies, build healthy boundaries, and build positive self images. I have also facilitated communication between medical professionals and Swahili-speaking couples during complicated, stressful, and potentially life-threatening labor and deliveries.

I prefer working in person with 1 to three pupils at a time. Zoom lessons are available, but they are not preferred. English engagement relies not on speech alone, but also on body language and gesticulations that are not easily captured via video conference.
I like to use videos, printed publications, and personal interaction as a means of improving the nuanced speaking, reading, and soft skills needed to become fluent in English.
