About Bessie
"Sitting at the keys of my first piano at the Cleveland Institute of Music, I discovered that sound is a LANGUAGE that requires total patience to translate. This realization led to a Bachelor of Music in Piano and 13 years of teaching students ranging from hopeful college applicants to adults rediscovering their joy. My instruction covers a broad technical landscape including scales, arpeggios, hand independence, and music theory alongside jazz improvisation or classical repertoire.
I focus on proper posture and hand position because these elements enable the delicate nuances of Chopin that I hold dear. You will find that my approach remains calm and steady regardless of your current skill level."

"Stepping into our first session means we sit together to map out a clear path for your musical growth. I listen while you play, observing how your fingers move, which helps me understand exactly how to refine your technique while we explore pop and contemporary favorites.
Because I provide custom sheet music arrangements for the songs you choose, 6 musical pieces become the foundation of our work together. We will examine the specific mechanics of your playing, perhaps shifting how you use the pedal or your phrasing, all while keeping the atmosphere relaxed. My 13 years in this field allow me to adjust our tempo, ensuring that you feel supported as you refine your own unique sound."
