About Santiago
Argentinian (Spanish native) and Agricultural Engineer with a mission to teach Spanish. I am an experienced teacher with many years of experience around the world teaching in Denmark and Australia to kids and adults, with remarkable experiences.
My philosophy of teaching dwells in empathy, patience, and dynamism; more than the transference of information from one point to another, teaching really is a clear understanding of the peculiarities of each student and how to carry them along to a successful.
It is with this philosophy that I could adapt my lessons according to their peculiar needs: the students who either want to get official degrees, look for jobs, or just improve communication.
I believe that learning a language also means discovering a new culture and opening up to new opportunities. That is why in my classes, there is always an exciting and communicative atmosphere—each class becomes a new adventure on the way to mastering Spanish. My Approach as a Tutor:
As a tutor, I consider the students' active involvement and creating a dynamic and challenging learning environment. I practice different pedagogical techniques with each student individually so that the mastered language is done systematically and meaningfully.
Teaching Method and Techniques:
That is to say, my teaching method is principled on the communicative approach, meaning from the very beginning, I stress oral and written communication skills development. Therefore, it comprises an amalgamation of interactive activities, listening exercises, and reading and writing tasks, including role-plays and debates for students to apply the language in reality.
I also prefer using multimedia resources and authentic materials in the form of songs, movies, or news articles that can provide students with firsthand exposure to Spanish in real-life context.
Typical Lesson Plan:
Warm-up: Brief talk to make me comfortable, recalling the last class activity for check learning.
Introduction of New Material: I introduce new linguistic concepts through examples and clear explanations.
Guided Practice: Students practice the new material with my guidance and correction.
Interactive activities - For the students to practice new vocabulary items and grammatical structures, exercise practices are set in pairs or groups, in the form of role-plays or conversation.
Positive reinforcement and feedback: I give positive feedback and reinforcement, enhancing confidence and enabling error correction.
Homework Assignment: I assign tasks related to the lesson's topic to reinforce learning outside the classroom.
