About Jacob
Jacob Byrd is a professional Drummer and Percussionist based in Brooklyn, NY. He currently serves as a Staff-Sergeant in the U.S. Army Band, an assignment that has taken him around the globe to perform and lead masterclasses in New York, Florida, Alaska, India, and Japan. Jacob is in his final semester at The City College of New York (CCNY), where he is completing his bachelor's degree in Jazz Performance. Over the course of his career, he has had the privilege of studying under master educators and musicians, including Robert McCormick, Kevin Von Kampen, Carl Allen, and Adam Cruz.

From my years of teaching I understand that learning drums IS NOT EASY! And with only (usually) an hour a week my goal isn't to just give you things to practice.
My biggest responsibility as an educator is to give you tools on HOW to practice so the materials I give to you are retained. I will make sure I push your limits while also not moving on until the concept is second nature to you.
I believe that attainable short-term goals help achieve unimaginable long-term results.

I know Jacob through our jazz program at CCNY. I have musical experience as a singer but worry too much and underestimate myself sometimes when it comes to my rhythm.
