About Jeffrey
I do not like to improvise. Art history is a very important subject to me. As a teacher, I believe that repetition is a basic learning principle so obviously my sessions will have strong memory and visual components. Nonetheless, being a serious instructor and a more serious student does not exclude the need to fully enjoy the learning experience. If there is only rigorous discipline and no fun, we are defeating the original purpose even though in not-so-rare occasions art is just a deep expression that goes beyond a simple search for beauty or perfection.

My way of teaching is normally based on extensive bilateral communication including the abundant use of questions to stimulate detail observation, analysis and, ultimately, critical thinking. Each session starts with an exercise on artist and/or art movement recognition. Lessons are designed for students who are mostly in the basic or intermediate levels. Up to three (3) students may be able to participate with high interaction levels. What sets me apart as a tutor is my true passion for the history of painting and also as someone who has admired many famous works of art in person. Even though history is usually taught in chronological order, we will occasionally move between time periods to compare styles and influencing trends.
